There are two versions, one where the Old Person walks towards the chair, the other where he leaves the chair,( at number 2).
It's the winter of life, it's cold, one walk towards the end of life , the armchair is there to symbolize the reception of this end.
It is also a representation of old age, where life slows down, where the body no longer struggles, letting the cold invade us. It is a representation of ordinary life, the one which can be observed in ones family, in a nursing home….
